about

2 years of blood sweat and beers...

What happens when the two guitarists/vocalists from seminal Melbourne stoner doom band Downriver (who also both spent the 90s playing grind and hardcore together in the Melbourne gig-machine W.A.R.) listen to a heap of dueling-guitar-NWOBHM, old school 80’s metal and dabble with the icy grasp of blasting old school black metal over a few beers and backyard bonfires?

Wildeornes happens.

Wildeornes (pronounced Will-Der-Ness as usual) is one of those genuinely eclectic bands that just FUCKING LOVES RIFFS!

The healer, the scientist, the educator and the philosopher, Wildeornes play a unique brand of sludgey stoner-doom influenced Metal (imagine that word in shiny chrome, maybe with lightning or something also) that stinks like a sleeveless denim vest covered in metal patches, beer, vomit, and quite possibly a small amount of someone’s urine.

Wildeornes released their first album (…) in August 2012 having spent the previous two years recording it as a two-piece in guerilla recording sessions across the most grim and kvlt lounge rooms that they could find in rural Victoria.

Wildeornes are now in the pre-production phase of recording their second full length album… and will not disappoint fans of the Riff — the next album is a little more stoner sludge than (…) due to being recorded as a full band and not just a nomadic stoner two-piece ensemble obsessed with Enslaved and Judas Priest.
